Exciting news!

I guess I'm ignorant of the terminology of the recording process, but what are beds, and does this mean the vocals have yet to be recorded?

Congrats on this milestone. Anxiously awaiting the release of the finished project.

It was a metaphor (all the beds are made ~ all the songs are recorded),
"Bed" also means the foundation, the bedrock, the riverbed. "all the beds are made" could mean the foundations for all the songs are laid down. so in that sense it is a recording term.

and Blue October isn't really touring Iran....

or are they?

Strange use of the term "beds", unless Keiv is right... given Justin's poetic nature, I wouldn't put the analogy (er, metaphor) thing past him. Laughing

Bed are pieces of music, without words and usually without a traditional melody. Something you would use in an advertisement under a voiceover. Casually, they refer to the base of the music that the post-production elements are built upon. Use of it this way might imply the vocals haven't been recorded yet, but we've been told vocals have been recorded along the way.
