Greetings and Salutations to all,

I'm reaching out to let you know that we are making some immediate changes to the Open Book. In recent times the Open Book has lost much of it's original focus as a community for friends and fans of Blue October to come together and discuss all things Blue October, as well as talk about any and all other topics and even post art, poetry and more. In recent times the Open Book has become increasingly bitter with long time members outright bashing any new members who come along.

Please know that we do not condone personal attacks nor abuse of anyone on the Open Book so we plan to more heavily moderate the board. Don't blame us, you've all brought it on yourselves.

If we see personal attacks and verbal abuse, we will delete entire threads as well as the users involved and do our best to block you from further use of the board. Please do what you can to treat people with more respect - whether they have been a friend of the band for 10 years or just 10 days. We have mad respect for all of you. Remember a new fan coming to this board means they are excited about discovering our music - why should that target them for abuse and ridicule.

Please know this message comes direct from the band and management. Please chill out.

Respect each other.

Blue October and Rainmaker Artists

what a shame that people would act like that, isnt the whole point to this site is to try and get Blue's name out there?? I'm excited when someone tells me they like them...I've only been listening to them for 4 yrs, does that mean i LOVE them any less than someone that has listened to them longer? NO WAY CUZ I REALLY LOVE THIS BAND!!!

Hi All. Ive never considered myself a fan of any music group. Until now. Im just a 43 yr ol lady- that my boys consider--"stuck in the 80's". Then..they turned me onto Blue October about 2 years ago. Love the entire Foiled CD. When I seen in my casino flyer, that they would be at Stir Cove- I went. But more than that, decided to treat myself to a hotel room, dinner, and make a full night of it. Which I did. Living only 150miles from Council Bluffs, I had never stayed at their hotel. Well...let me tell you, IT ROCKED. I was given a room, on 1st floor, directly behind the stage.. and it felt like being in a presidental suite, or special VIP section. Not only could I hear perfectly, but a full view, of the crowd, the whole scene. I was in Heaven. And, when I beat on the window, as the band left the stage, and Justin waving to all of the hotel room windows.. I got his attention, and he waved just to me! Had I been just a face in the crowd, the night would have been great... but this made it even better.. If you get the chance to go there... Get a 1st floor room!
More later

Continued: My point being- For two years, I've enjoyed the music, and truely compliment their writting style and meanings. I connect with it. But seeing them, and then the curiosity to learn more.. I did Internet search and found this website, in hopes of learning more about the band, and each member in it. And in doing so... I would now call myself a "fan". I would love to talk face to face with whoever, wrote many of the lyrics, and the reasoning for them. I can assume to draw my own conclusions, and I may be close, but I would like confirmation. Smile I want to pick their brains, simply because, I can relate to so much of it. Maybe, even offer some of my own "songs", "poems", "lyrics". Your all wonderfully talented, and I now understand, why my ..then, 20 yr old, drove several states away, to see the band.... I would have too. Thanks!

I hear you, Gemini. I am 40 (and spend most times in denial about it). My partner compared Justin's music to Pink Floyd. I am still a huge fan of Floyd, and their music never gets old to me. The deepness, the soul searching, the interpretation behind the lyrics. I have never been one to listen to music without meaning. It needs to tell a story or paint a picture I am so glad I discovered BO during the Foiled days. Remember the days when Radio stations actually told you what song was coming up? Now it takes a lot more research to figure out who singe what.

I am so happy to see this message! I joined the forum a little while ago and have not visited much, (obviously, since I am reading this March post for the first time in August) because of all the negative talk between people.

I will definitely visit more often now. Wink

I applaud you swinn, good on ya! I have only visited the board a few times trying to get info on band, however I find most forums online tend to get catty at times. Thanks for pointing it out, we don't need haters putting a bad taste in our mouth for Blue October!
